What does the NLNA need funds for?

Liberty Lands
The NLNA reclaimed two acres of brownfields, and fought the city’s red tape to create this precious green space that has become Liberty Lands, the heart of the neighborhood. The play ground, the gardens, the big field,  the trees, the benches, the stage, the rain garden;  this unique oasis and town square continues to bring neighbors together, as it should. And, it belongs to all of us.

It takes $22,000 a year to care for Liberty Lands. Contribute by using the Donate Button on the right.

The Community Center
The NLNA built the Northern Liberties Community Center out of a reclaimed, city-owned shell. The Center houses the office where volunteers respond to neighbors’ concerns, distribute recycling bins, host NLArts, and hold zoning and other meetings. It is home base for Townwatch, and it’s where candidates and public officials come to answer your questions. Our email list is 1,650 strong and is the source for community information, backed up by our web site and Townwatch discussion list.

It takes $23,000 per year to keep the Community Center open, and our core functions running. Contribute by using the Donate Button on the right.

Neighborhood Services
The NLNA’s  Quality of Life Coordinator handles trash issues, deals with irresponsible construction, coordinates street cleaning, and speaks to owners of neglected lots and buildings. We make sure the City delivers services from cleaning sewers to plowing streets.
The Clean & Green Committee plants dozens of street trees,  organizes e-waste collections, recycling, treecycling, and storm water management programs.

The NLNA’s all volunteer Zoning Committee provides a forum for neighbors to voice their concerns directly to developers during the planning process. We keep development standards high and our voice is respected downtown. Our volunteers attend the city’s Planning Commission and Zoning Board hearings, so you don’t have to.

It takes $25,000 per year to keep these services coming. Contribute by using the Donate Button on the right.

We do our best with our yearly fund-raising events: Music Festivals, Plant Sale, Variety Show, and Holiday Party to name a few. This appeal is part of that effort. In all, if we don’t want to compromise our services, we need to raise $70,000 in funds each year. Every dollar counts!
