Green & Clean Streets

  • Liberty Land's has a free compost drop-off site! This volunteer-run program accepts compostable items every Saturday from 11am - noon. Our drop-off bins are on North 3rd St & West Wildey St.  Our compost program accepts: 

    • Raw Fruits & Veggies (remove stickers)

    • Tea Bags (no staples)

    • Coffee Grounds

    • Egg Shells

    • Plain Brown Paper & Newspaper

    • Peanut & Pistachio Shells

    • Compostable Bags/Utensils (only if their packaging says "compostable at home")

    We could always use more hands! Every Saturday a couple of us operate our public compost shift from 11am-noon. During that time we tackle various compost pile tending tasks as well as well as accepting + weighing food scrap drop offs.   • The NLNA has a contract with the city’s Taking Care of Business Program‍ ‍to hire cleaning crews for Spring Garden and Callowhill, from Delaware Ave to 9th St, plus Madison Memorial Park.

    Crews pick up trash, clean graffiti, sweep the sidewalks, and more. They will be cleaning Spring Garden and Madison Memorial Park four times per week, and Callowhill three times per week.

  • Use the city’s tool to find your trash and recycling collection day.

    Place trash in front of your own property no earlier than 7PM before your regularly scheduled collection day.

  • A street tree is a tree planted along sidewalks and other public rights-of-way. You can request a free tree from Philadelphia Parks & Rec or from Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Tree Tenders Program. Learn more here.

Get Help

Having the right contact info makes a big difference. Whether you need to get emergency help, connect an unhoused neighbor to care, or report a city maintenance issue, these numbers help you respond quickly. Use them to ensure the right support reaches the right place at the right time.

    • When to call: If you see someone living outdoors or experiencing homelessness who needs support.

    • What it does: Dispatches a Project HOME street outreach team to provide immediate case management, medical care, and shelter options.

    • Number: 311

    • When to call: For local infrastructure flaws, neighborhood maintenance, or general city questions.

    • What it does: Connects you to the Philly311 City Contact Center to report potholes, broken streetlights, and more.

    • Number: 911

    • When to call: To report a crime in progress, a fire, or any immediate medical emergency.

    • What it does: Immediately alerts the local police district, fire department, or emergency medical technicians for rapid response.
